The Athletic latest report reveals that Manchester United manager, Ten Hag, has successfully signed five former Ajax players, but the team could have been even more impressive.

According to the report, Ten Hag had recommended signing van de Beek to the Red Devils last summer. He had even inquired with Bayern Munich about the possibility of signing the Dutch midfielder in January 2023. However, Bayern Bayern deemed van de Beek not for sale, and eventually, Manchester United ended up signing Donny van de Beek. Later on, Ten Hag excluded van de Beek from his plans, and Liverpool completed the transfer, leaving Manchester United without transfer funds to pursue the deal. Furthermore, Ten Hag had also shown interest in Dutch defender Tete, who is currently playing for Arsenal.

In 2022, Manchester United had gone as far as creating a video specifically for Memphis Depay, placing him alongside some club legends, in an attempt to convince him to join the team. Unfortunately, the player never saw the video.
